Welcome to the 2012 Grand Haven Triathlon and Duathlon, presented by Grand Haven Bone & Joint. This USA Triathlon sanctioned event hosts an olympic distance triathlon, a sprint distance triathon, an olympic distance duathlon and a sprint distance duathlon. Relay teams are allowed for all 4 events. All 4 races will take place on Sunday, July 8, 2012. The swim portion of the triathlons will start on the clean waterfront of Lake Michigan. The bike course will take athletes out on scenic Lakeshore Drive and the run will take place on the popular boardwalk along the riverfront. The transition area, finish line, post race awards, raffle picnic and concert will take place at Mulligan’s Hollow, adjacent to the Tri Cities Family YMCA.
A pre-race expo will be held on Saturday, July 07, 2012 at the Tri Cities Family YMCA. This will run from 2:00PM to 6:00PM. Athletes can pick up their race packet, get body marked, late register, view course maps and get instructions from the race director. Sponsors and vendors will also be set up making available last minute items and services that you’ll find very beneficial. Due to low demand, the pasta dinner has been cancelled for this year. As a result, we have reduced the entry fee, accordingly.
Back by popular and growing demand, the kid’s triathlon will take place on Saturday morning, July 07, 2012. Children ages 6 through 13 are invited to participate in this fun filled event. Bring the entire family as the Tri Cities area offers something for everyone and is a wonderful vacation getaway. The Grand Haven Triathlon and Duathlon is a great weekend event for the serious veteran, beginner triathlete and children. Anyone who registers for either the sprint or olympic duathlon is eligible to win. Awards will go to the overall winner for male and female divisions and the overall male and female masters winners. This is one of the most scenic and fast duathlon courses that you'll absolutely love. The event will be followed by a picnic with grilled food, a band and numerous raffle items. You will also enjoy over 130 cheering volunteers, in addition to professional staffing, to make sure you stay on course and safe. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Thursday, April 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This symposium is free to all that attend and is open to anyone. You don't have to be a triathlete to attend. Presenters include Grand Haven Bone & Joint, Shoreline Sport & Spine Physical Therapy, MMPC, Envision Radiology, Breakaway Bicycles & Fitness, Gazelle Sports as well as other experts covering areas of nutrition, swimming, biking, running and triathlon in general. ALL areas of triathlon will be discussed and open to questions. ALL levels of abilities, from first time newbies, to seasoned triathletes will benefit from this event. Those that attend will be given an "on site" 10% discount for entry in the Grand Haven Triathlon/Duathlon, Presented by Grand Haven Bone & Joint. In order to receive this discount, you must attend the symposium and register for the race at that time. This event is going to be a great way to obtain an enormous amount of information and network with other athletes. Again, you don't have to be a triathlete to attend. In a continuous effort to make the Grand Haven Triathlon a family event, a kid's triathlon has been added to the venue for 2009. This was a very popular requested item from athletes and spectators. The race will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Tri Cities Family YMCA and is for children ages 6 through 13 years old. Participants will swim 100 meters in the YMCA pool, bike 2 1/4 miles and run 1 1/4 miles. Awards will be given on 2 year age increments for both genders. This enables athletes to bring the entire family to Grand Haven and allow all family members the fun of participating in an event for the weekend.
